Party Time

Christmas shopping time is fast approaching and once again it’s time to organize the season’s parties. Because it’s Christmas, the norm is office parties, company parties, get together parties or any excuse to party. It is an occasion to celebrate and let all the steam off that has built up over the year past. For that reason, some of us really go to town partying, not to really celebrate the occasion but to enjoy ourselves.
The month of December is coming close to the year’s end so it’s also a good reason to celebrate. The time we are able to mark up another milestone by celebrating what we have achieved during the year. Likewise then decide what our plans are for the new year coming. This should include those items that we just didn’t have time to complete in the previous twelve months. Plus of course time to start thinking about all those new year’s resolutions, lessons that we learnt from last year.

Christmas Shopping
December time is when all the stores and malls are stocked up for the upcoming Christmas holiday. Toy shops are fully packed with the latest toys and gadgets in order to tempt kids. Everything is nice and shiny getting kids eyes to pop hoping Santa will bring it to them this year. Mobile phone shops are full of all new stock of latest mobiles and all the gadgets to go with them. Store windows are complete with all the glitter and bright lights required to catch the eye of the passerby. Some think that the latest mobile would be perfect present for a loved one, and why not. Jewelry shops, computer shops, car showrooms all geared up and waiting for you to enter, they will willingly take your money. Young or old Santa is sure to come to you as long as you continue to believe in him.

Clothes shops have all the latest fashions for men women and kids. The malls are nice and warm to keep the would be shopper inside the stores as long as possible. In contrast air conditioning instead of heat is required this side of the planet. Shoe shops with all the latest fur lined foot-ware to keep your feet warm in the Christmas snow. Bedroom slippers as an extra little gift.
Supermarkets are full of all the Christmas requirements, both imported and local. The shop assistants calling out to you to get your Christmas turkey or ham at this location. Everything is available to entice the consumer to spend their hard earned cash. The season is not only a time to celebrate the birth of Christ, it is now also a time of consumerism and commercialism. But who cares, enjoy it while you can.
Christmas Decorations

It’s the time of year for the decorating of the homes and town streets. Christmas trees both live and imitation decked out with their silver balls, decorations of angels and fairy lights. Canned snow sprayed on the tree branches to make it look like a white Christmas. All the presents neatly packaged with colored ribbons and wrappings and placed under the tree. The holly around the room and outside the door. The hanging mistletoe to steal the kiss under. The Christmas carols and all the old songs playing in the malls and on the radio. The filling up and sending of Christmas cards. Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas.
Family
Above all else the most important thing of all in this abundance of enjoyment and merryment of course is the family. Dads, Moms, grandparents, siblings etc. etc. Everybody in the family coming together for this special occasion called Christmas. Some coming from overseas or from a different part of the country. Members of some families not seeing each other for years perhaps. All hugging each other with tears of joy at the airport or seaport.

The whole family sitting down to enjoy the Christmas dinner together. The talk, the banter, the laughter, the smiles. The coffee or drinks after the meal. The different stories being told while the kids play with their new toys or outside riding their new bikes. The blazing fire in the fire place keeping everyone warm, happy, contented and cosy. Whoever said Christmas was only for kids?
